First of all make sure the error message is displayed on the screen by stopping the computer from automatically restarting when an error is encountered, viz : Right-click Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab then click Settings at the bottom alongside Startup and Recovery. In System Failure untick ‘Auto Restart’. Now, next time you have a BSOD, the STOP error will be displayed on the screen.
Make a note of the error number (the format is 0x00000aaa, where aaa is the error number, e.g. 05A) and look for a generalised explanation of your error number here http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.php

The problem is they have released a product about 2 years before they actually should have. I have win Vista sitting in a box just waiting on some serious updates. None of my programs that I have (with the exception of one) works on Vista. I still can't understand why anyone would want an operating system that has reduced the number of options/compatibility from the previous version. Seems to me like when you have a product that has been proved stable and compatible with all windows apps that you wouldn't compromise these features by coming out with a product that completely ignores slightly dated programs. I guess that they developers thought that since people were getting their newest OS that they would be getting the brand new versions of every program they have. No, this is upsetting. I will not be using Vista for years. XP is so dependable, why change?

What you have written about Vista was also written about WinXp, Win98, Win95, Win3, Win2 and Win1, probably back to the earliest versions of CP/M and MS-DOS.
You need only a basic knowledge of business to understand why older software products are not being updated by their authors. Have you worked it out yet?

You cannot remove IE it is part of your OS.
As for your system being slow try ccleaner and rid your system of built up rubbish.

Not sure if this will help anyone but a lot of programmes on VISTA need you to authorise as administrator.
to do this, right click on icon on desktop, go to properties, then compatability, then put tick in box to run as administrator.
hope it helps
