I have been using Tesco broadband for over a year now and suddenly it has stopped working. When i try to connect it says 'no dial tone'. The modem has one flashing green light and one stable green light - does this mean its a problem with the modem? as it usually has two stable green lights. I have phoned Tesco helpline - £10 later and they still hadnt come up with any solutions.
Im not very good when things go wrong like this? does anyone have any ideas which i could try -Please Help!!

What modem is it, a Speedtouch maybe?
A flashing light normally indicates data flow but in this case it's probably because it can not get a DSL signal from the landline for some reason or other. Let's go through all the simple stuff first..
Check the microfilters. There should be one in every single device that's connected to the phone line. If there already is, try replacing the one the modem plugs into.
Check that the cable that runs from the modem to the phone socket is connected properly and free of kinks, breaks, other damage etc. Try another cable too.
I assume that the normal phone is working OK, but the modem isn't?
Go through that, post up some results and we'll see what we can do from there

Thank you so much for your help - i tried a new wire between the phone line and the modem and it worked!! yeah!! After a week of trying lots of things it worked so quickly, I never thought about checkin the actual wires!!
Yes the phone worked ok, it was just the modem that didnt work.
