I have set up a cable modem of Virgin for surfing Internet at home. I bought a Netgear ME102 Access Point for home network. When I connected modem to this router according to the instruction of Virgin website and Access Point manual, my laptop could reach my router via wireless card. I could see the MAC address of router and the assigned IP in my laptop. But I could not surf Internet. I checked the local area connection of laptop, and found that the sent pockets were becoming more and more while the received pockets were ZERO all the time. This implied that the requests from my laptop were denied by modem or Virgin server. I don't understand what happened. If anyone can help, I would be grateful...

According to this the ME102 has to be connected to your PC via an ethernet cross-over cable. Is yours? Are you sure that this is actually the right equipment to go with a Virgin cable setup? It's not a router just an access point.

Thank you for your response! I'm not sure if you meant that ME102 could not be regarded as a wireless router. But I set up it in my office, where there is a HUB. I can configure it by SNMP, i.e. a desktop and ME102 are connected to a HUB via Ethernet cable. Then My laptop can reach ME102 via its wireless card. Actually, I could connect more than one laptop at the same time. But at home, I used the cable modem of Virgin. I connected ME102 to it. My laptop could reach it. But there was no the received pockets....
Thanks again!
