Webuser Forums: Gmail notifier

I have been running IE7 for some time now with gmail as my web based email. i don't use outllok or any such programme. I used the gmail notifier for mailto links, i would click on the link and a pop up window containing the gmail 'compose email' function would come up.

I recently installed office 2007 that had outlook 2007 incorporated within it. when i tried to send an email via a mailto link outlook would start, i followed microsofts advice on how to remove the outlook components from my system and also removed the gmail notifier and reverted back to IE6. i have reinstalled IE7 and the gmail notifier and used the gmail function to handle all my mailto links, when i click on an email hyperlink though about 67 windows open saying the standard windows error message!

anybody have any clue why it would be doing this?
