I have an old computer on which I use Windows 3.1 fopr wordprocessing etc. I want to install the driver for an Acer CD drive, that I intend to search for and download. I am told that as I am using Windows 3.1 that it will not install automatically I am told that I must go ino the auto exe and type in a line or two.
Can anyone, please, tell me where I may find the driver to download and also how I can go to the correct place (auto exe?) and install it

There are two files on your computer that will need to be changed, AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. You will need a plain DOS text editor to make the changes, one that does not create special characters in a text file. If you look at this it will give you the basic idea of what you need to do. However I am pretty certain that Acer will not be able to supply you with the DOS drivers you need as Windows 3.1 is so old.

Is it possible to find a zipped version to download that can be saved and then unzipped to install itself?
