System restore jumps back past last restore point

Hi, my browsing history was kindly deleted on Saturday, I have lost my form data and passwords so I tried to see if system restore would remedy by going back to a system checkpoint on Friday, when I restore, it jumps back to about 2 years ago wiping all my files, favorites, desktop folders, software etc etc. Any idea how I can go back a few days or does this sound like a familiar problem with this application?
