AOL login problem
      #363008 - Sun Aug 26 2007 07:19 PM

My wife has been unable to log on to AOL for a couple of days now, when she does try she gets a message telling her she is already logged in on another user account on this computer.

I've checked all the user accounts and she isn't logged in anywhere else i've also ran task manager and checked all users that way.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried reinstalling the AOL software from their supplied CD?

Ian.

Agree that is the best idea

But try these out first

If you can see the triangular AOL icon next to the clock rigt click on itand Click on One click fixes on the list Nust be preinstall

Windowopen with a long list scroll down to the section markek

Connectivity

Redetect Connection Devices
This One-Click Fix redetects the device that you use to connect to AOL and the Internet (e.g. a specific modem). This may help repair your AOL connection.

Rebuild AOL Adapter/Delete ACS Files
This One-Click Fix rebuilds your AOL Adapter and deletes the connectivity databases. If these files are corrupted, you may not be able to connect to AOL.

Try the second one first

If no joy you can always remake the connection
by scrolling down to

Rebuild Current Connection Location
This One-Click Fix helps you connect to AOL. It deletes the current location you are using to connect to AOL and helps you add a new one.

Rebuild AOL Adapter
This One-Click Fix rebuilds your AOL Adapter. Your adapter may have been corrupted, and this change may improve your ability to connect to AOL.

Tis last one is a good starting point before you look at Modem drivers or connections

To activate any of these wizare press the tiny "Fix it for me" button

I would also say ring AOL on 0844 499 5555 <--- New Number! and tell them you want the account password resetting and they will give you a temporary password to log on if that is the case ...you can reset the password after you are online....Oh and Its the Person who pays the account who has to ask for it (Primary Master Name)

They can disable the account from their end too so Say somebodies Hijacked it they'll be cut off Tell them about your Phantom Screen Names Logged in

Who knows you could be back on-line in a few minutes?
