Hi Guys Can anyone help me. I am running XP home on a 2.8 intel with 2 gig of ram masses of hard disk space etc. It has always run perfect apart from this last few weeks. It keeps randomly rebooting and according to the event viewer the error is as follows. The server {F4524160-9145-49C9-8810-46CBC1EA0021} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. I do have a another machine which is networked to the main computer and I suspect it is something to do with that but I don't realy know. Has anyone any ideas please.
All the best

There is some evidence that this error is linked to Microsoft updates. You could uninstall the August updates one at a time to find the culprit.
Firstly, you should stop the rebooting so that the STOP error can be seen on the screen. Right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced Tab, StartUp and Recovery at the bottom, Settings and untick 'Auto Restart'. Next time the error occurs make a note of the number (format 0x0000000A) and look it up here http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.php
After making a note of the error hold in the power button to turn off the computer.

I didn't say that, in fact the opposite is true - I would advocate installing every critical fix that Microsoft releases! Perhaps I should have said "In some instances, albeit a few, there is a slim chance that some computers are affected by some Microsoft fixes".
A Microsoft fix may or may not be what is causing your problem. I was trying to point out a possible solution in addition to you checking out the exact STOP error.
