SYS 32 folder showing on Desktop @Startup Why? and other Linked? issues
      #361979 - Sat Aug 18 2007 03:40 PM

In the last few start ups The Sys32 Folder has been displaying on the Desktop How is this Happening and B) How do I stop this ?

No clue on the Startup list Though there is a "Blank line" entry showing Cannot see where that goes? May be something else?
Not touched the "Services"
Any clues as to why this is happening?

PS Have World of Warcraft Installed and Everytime that is run (by my brother)it Deletes the Cookies Have to Manually log on to dozens of sites
Is this a Known Issue?
NOTE This Latter Item has been happening for a few months So doing a "System Restore" is Out of the Question
Only way is to Protect these cookies against deletion ...But How?

Running XP Pro SP2 & IE7

Here’s the traditional reason that it shows up http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B170086 or here line 260 on the right http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Thanks Guys

Your answers Pointed me in the right direction
The Cause? It was a Known Pest of a Video installer Called Zango (which has been erased)Using CCleaner
Used the NEW beta V2.00 CCleaner Which is my opinion is Now really Fast Worth upgrading

As regards the Other Cookie issues they will NOT appear until WOW is run

Will repost Later unless somebody answers that query here Thanks

are you sure it isn't Ccleaner removing the cookies ?
unless you have them in the ignore list.

Answering your question
CCleaner is always set to Ignore Cookies (box unticked) Keep search history too

The Main issue occured again but I got the old standby out "Regedit" and Its Gone forever

What happened was Zango mounts itsself in the Registry and shows on the Startup list as being in the Program files folder Yet the Program has been removed...and the entry still insists its still running
So I typed Regedit and ran a Search for Zango and Yes there are 2 Files to go (deleted them) checked the Startup list again no Zango & no Blank line entry

Next I run CCleaner again On Both the Cleaner and Registry Cleaner/Issues (Seems to be digging more out on the Registry side)
Did a reset. Starts up ...No SYS 32 folder...Status Quo restored!!

Bricat You are right
@ Me
Give yourself a prize.

CCleaner is Deleting Cookies despite being told not to do so at Startup and the bug has been carried over to the New version
Agreed the only safe haven is to put those Items on the Ignore list (have at least Half a dozen)
EUREKA!
Further Information Check when upgrading If you have any Cookie/s to Keep that they Have NOT Slipped Into the Cookies to Delete frame the Items are the all you do is highlight the item and Click the Arrow button to move across to the Right frame

To find this click the Options icon then the Cookies Button

And they do get carried over to the new version

Just made a discovery about Zango it does link closely to another even nastier pest called Hotbar Which is a real pain to remove!! Only saw this when I was running a test on the Site advisor Homepage and Gang Hotbar is still active ...Do not visit the Page as It latches onto Windows/Registery without asking
Even well protected it can infect your computer

I like this in the last paragraph on your link Ray
Quote:

Allan's declaration came in a lawsuit brought by Zango against security vendor PC Tools. Zango alleges that PC Tools's Spyware Doctor software removes Zango's software without warning users, and that this has hurt the adware company's business. Zango has also filed a similar lawsuit against Kaspersky Lab.

They don't realise people only use the Program for the 1 off task then move on deleting the program and all should be as before yet why the Cling effect?
Most webusers expect an ad or popup to appear before a video or link is opened thats fair yet Why the Loud Jimmy Cricket approach? Come here... and there's More...
I think we'd like to see "Helper" programs run in this (1 selection of ads/ vids per use of the Program)) matter and then the only thing we'd comment on is the delivery quality or navigation
