My first wysiwyg PtII
      #36069 - Wed Jan 21 2004 01:19 AM

I've had websites before but created them online (Geocities style) so this is my first attempt using WebPlus8 from Serif.

It is meant to be a simple portal for a group of stags in the preparation of my friends stag weekend in Blackpool in June 2004. I have little to no experience in html although I know how to ctrl c javascript into webplus (which is handy!)

Yes it is simple and yes it relies on some graphics but i think they're low res enough not to slowdown loaduptime! The information at the moment is limited to the before stagnite moments including a poll and java countdown. YES I KNOW IT DOESN'T CENTRE! I know the code but am struggling to understand how to put it into webplus8 !! Please go easy on me!

Web address is a .tk freebie which redirects my lenghty ntl address! It is in my sig below!!

But just in case it doesn't work it's www.lastnightoffreedom.tk

Check it out please?

Hi Paul,

Well, I think you've done very well. It's crisp and clean, the info is easily digested. I particularly like the various links you've included, which can only add to the users web experience, great.

I dare say it's been done before but, what an original idea for a personal spot on the web.

The one fly in the ointment is your Homepage link isn't working. Just drop the homepage.html at the end of the URL (but I'm sure you know that already).

Also, not a criticism, I would reccomend that you add the target="_blank" tag to your outbound links to open a new browser window for the external site, thus keeping your visitor on your site in the original browser window - which they will come back to eventually.

BTW:
I'd pay good money to see Steve go into Funny Girls dressed as a tart.

Thanks and well spotted, I stupidly called my original page homepage during the making of it, then changed the pagename to index (4 obvious reasons) however i guess the hyperlinks are looking for homepage, which are now index.....oh u fool Paul!

And yes Steve is going into Funny Girls however I have yet to convince him of wearing a dress but my dream is to get him gimped up!

The links thing is another thing i hadn't thought of and u are correct that what i wanted it to do so thats my next thing to fix!

Thanks for the positive feedback! Check back for the gimpshots in June 2004!

Apart from the scrolling text (never use scrolling text) whizzing bar at one hell of a rate, and the "126 days until Steve's Stag Weekend - 4th/5th June 2004" text merging with some other text in Mozilla, not a bad effort at all.

Clean, tidy and well laid out.
