This seller cannot currently receive payments
      #360064 - Sun Aug 05 2007 02:53 AM

I just won a CD on ebay and went to pay, I always pay within a few hours of auction ending if possible, the only option was paypal, the option I prefer, but when I click to pay after my address then clicking again I got this Transaction Cancelled

This seller cannot currently receive payments

The only thing similar I can find in ebays forums is to someone in Hungry and the person was left negative feedback. somene said they may not have received a high enough bid for the item and blocked the payment is this possible as it was 2am I won the item and only 20 mins later I went to pay?

Never come across this one to be honest. Is the seller still trading or have they been kicked off?

It is possible to cancel bids as a seller as I have had to do this in the past when someone emails to say 'sorry, I don't want it anymore' which is always fun.........It may be that the seller has taken that route for whatever reason. I was not aware that you could do it after a sale without the Mutual Consent of the buyer.

Two routes to follow: first contact the seller to see if they can tell you what the problem is, and second, if they fail to get back, log it as a complaint with eBay. I think you go to the Contact link and use Buying and Finding, then Problems with a Seller or Purchase and finally Seller Won't Contact You Or Sell You The Item (You Haven't Paid) you can detail what has happened. EBay will usually look into it even if you don't get the result you want.

Obviously give the seller a couple of days. Like I said, never happened to me, but I have been the sole bidder on something and the seller has closed the listing (obviously panicking cos they feel they won't get any other bids) and it can be annoying, but honestly I don't think you can do a lot about it.

What would be interesting is that the seller should have incurred a Final Value Fee for the sale. It will be interesting to see if they come back and ask you to agree to cancel - remember to stress to eBay that you haven't agreed this.

Keep us updated with what you get back.

I just checked my emails and I was outbid on the item but the higher bid was cancelled or retracted. The outbid notice was sent at 01:12 and the bid retractionwas sent at 01:14 the auction ended about 30 minutes later and I received the winning bidder notice at 01:43.
I have contacted the seller and hope to hear from them but some are not in a rush to reply or even post the items that are won. There is no way they will get me to pay more than my winning bid

If you didn't technically win the item, then PayPal won't allow you to pay. It seems like the seller hit the 'chicken' button and backed out of selling. It happens and is one of the reasons we sell our stuff mostly on Buy Nows - that way you get the price you want. Annoying as a potential buyer but you haven't lost anything so best just to avoid that seller in future.

On the opposite tack: I had a JVC Video camera go for 99p once and I would have gladly hit the panic button but just thought 'stuff it' and let it go. With eBay winning bids are binding but it's a two way street in that both buyer and seller can back out before the end. It happens a lot to us with buyers withdrawing bids, and some are crafty enough to try to do it when they have outbid someone. We then routinely block them from buying off us and you usually then get an email asking why they can't bid again - they generally want to place a bid just above the current winner and frankly we don't allow that, neither do eBay.

See what the seller says, but most likely they were disappointed with the bids and wanted to pull it. CDs sell pretty badly with the advent of on line sites like iTunes.

I received an email this morning saying they have had trouble with their paypal account and to sign in to paypal and send the the money using the send money tab so I sent it that way at least they didn't ask me to send cheque as I always look for paypal as an option before I bid on an item. I would rather miss out than bid and find they want some other form of payment.

hopefully it is all sorted now and I will receive the CD in a few days

See what turns up before we start to think what might be the issues..........Hopefully you get the CD for the best price and that will be a good transaction!

All I would suggest is check your PayPal account to see if the transaction is showing as COMPLETED or PENDING. If the latter, then they obviously have problems, but hopefully should be the first.

Should be fine - sometimes buyers send us payments that way. Bit more 'manual' way of doing it, but it gets through.

The CD turned up today all the way from the Ukraine so the delivery wasn't all that slow allowing for everything.

The Ukraine bit might explain the PayPal problems. Good to know the transaction was successful.
