Content Management System
      #359983 - Sat Aug 04 2007 09:26 AM

Bit of a longshot...

I want to create an internal web site that can do the following:

- allow users to login with their own account
- once logged in, can create\edit their own documents on-line (wysiwyg)
- an administrator has to approve new documents and amendments
- all documents once approved can be viewed by everyone, which are categorised

The layout would be similar (not identical) to the knowledgebase on Microsofts web site. Ideally the info will be held in a basic database and use asp, but not essential.

Does anyone know of a free\open source application framework that could do this?

Joomla! Content Management system http://www.joomla.org/ does all you ask and it is Open Source. You need a MySQL database and php hosting, bascially running from the ubiquitous linux/apache server combinations. All the web site hosts offer the facility no so hosting is not a problem.

There's also Drupal.
Similar to Joomla with a large community and resources.
