Hi there!
Everytime I visit one particular website I get bugged by the annoying bleeping of the information bar popping up and the following message:-
"Your security settings do not allow web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click here for options"
When I click on it the only option it gives me is "Information Bar Help" and thats it!
Ive been through Tools>Internet Options>Security settings>Custom level and all the settings and plug-ins are enabled.
Ive visited this website before with no problems, but now I cant without getting the bar popping up everytime.
Does anyone have any ideas?
FYI:- Im running Windows XP Pro/SP2 and IE6
Thanx in advance for any help/suggestions.

Have you tried upgrading to IE7 and seeing if that works?

Hi, yeah actually I think thats where all my problems started.
I upgraded to IE7 2 days before, but hated it. I didnt like the layout of the toolbars, but more then that every window I opened was super slow and eventually my browser kept freezing and crashing. I uninstalled it and went back to IE6, but now Im having lots of little problems instead.
Not only am I having the problem with the security bar, but now IE really slow to load and Microsoft Outlook keeps settings itself as my email client even though I keep setting it to Hotmail. Thats happened 3 times now.
Im starting to wish I never bothered upgrading.

I agree about the IE7, the layout isn't very easily accessible. I'm not sure why everything is slow and freezes. Was Outlook express already installed on the PC when you bought it, or did you install it?

I didnt actually buy my computer, someone gave it to me, but Im pretty sure it was already installed because I remember having to change it over to hotmail when I first got it. Ive never had the problem since though, that is until the last couple of days. Something else Ive suddenly started getting again as well is the warning that some items are both "secure and non-secure" when I visit certain web pages.
I think my comp has just gone mad

I am still having this problem in case anyone else has any ideas.
From what I have read on the net if you uninstall IE7 it isn't completed removed from the computer. Is this correct? And if so what do I need to do to get rid of it completely?
Many thanks.

Well, after exhausting all other possibilites I ended up re-installing my OS.
I didnt get any other suggestions from here so I guessed that would probably be my last option.
It seems to have worked.
Thanks for the suggestions I did get though.

Sorry couldn't have been more help but glad you've managed to fix the problem - even if you did have to reinstall the OS
