New tab on startup
      #359520 - Tue Jul 31 2007 10:17 AM

I was wondering if (like the BT Yahoo web browser)you could have a new tab open onto a web page of your choice on startup with Firefox? If you can could you please tell me how?

Help much appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the help but I require help with opening a new tab on the startup of firefox. So instead of opening firefox with 1 tab, it opens with 2.

Okay , a new one on me so tried a wee experiment and to my surprise it worked.

Open Firefox and click tools > options > "main tab . Now copy the url of the page you wish to open your 2cnd tab with , and paste it into the homepage box alongside the existing url > click OK

When you restart Firefox it should open with two tabs.

I have tried what you suggested but it does not seem to work. Is there a space in between the two URL's?

Hi again PCWHIZZ . Like i said i was surprised when it worked for me......and guess what....came in this morning from night shift and i couldn't repeat it.
Anyway , i know it worked so I'll have to fiddle around a bit , but as I'm on 12 hour nights for the next 6 days it's gonna be some time next week before i get a chance. I'll let you know how i get on.
In the meantime if anyone knows of another way.......please let us know.

Open Firefox and and go to the web page that you want to appear in the first tab. Now open a second tab with the other web page you want to appear in the second tab. Go to Tools, Options, Main and choose 'Show my Windows and Tabs from last time' against the Startup option for 'When Firefox Starts'. Now close Firefox and reopen it. You should now see two tabs with the two web pages showing.

open up all the pages you want to open when firefox starts, then click tools >> options >> use current pages.
you can have as many as you want.

Thanks. I've got it working now. Not sure about the first idea - does that not mean you have to do that every time you close Firefox? Might get a bit annoying!

And , just to answer the question.......putting a | between them does the business.
