hi newbie here, hope someone can help `cos I`m totally bamboozled.I currently have broadband through a simple usb modem, connecting to my desktop which,in turn, uses internet connection sharing to connect to sons xbox. now I want to create a wired connection through the aforementioned d-link router so that I can have a permanent connection to desktop, laptop and xbox. here`s the tech bit I don`t understand,do I need to - 1) replace the modem with an ethernet one 2)use a usb to ethernet adaptor between modem and router 3) chuck the whole lot in the bin and start again.
anyone walk me through this in plain english? many thanks in advance.

That's a decent router, don't bin it.
You can go wired or wireless with that but you need a modem with Ethernet. Something like this will act as your modem. Plug it into the WAN port of your router and off you go.

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!
