error message 0x8024402c
      #359089 - Thu Jul 26 2007 06:34 PM

Hello everyone it's me again. I have been trying to resolve a problem for media center decoder error and tried to get on the microsoft update page on internet explorer but I keep getting "Website has encountered a problem," etc and have been given an error number 0x8024402c.I did try to follow it up but as usual with microsoft I was sent round and round in circles and failed to resolve anything being totally confused by the information and codes that to the unaware are meaningless. Can anyone help?.

If you're getting that error on the Microsoft Update site, try this as it helps in some cases :
Go to Internet Options, Security Tab, click 'Trusted sites' icon, click Sites then uncheck 'Require server verification'. Add these 2 sites http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com and http://*.windowsupdate.com then click Close, Apply and OK.

That was a long shot that sometimes cures the problem.

Have you tried this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900936

If you mean there is no toolbar at the top of Internet Explorer it's because you are using IE7 and the Tools button is to the right near the top of the IE page.

Hello greysts. What a plonker I am. I set option (1) allow automatic detection setting and tried the update page again but the same error message error code came up but the green bar thingy ran a little longer this time.

Sometimes it does a system a whole heap of good to bin it and start again from scratch. In particular you clear out all the crud that gathers in the registry over a period. Glad it's all working OK.
