How do I connect my Buffalo WBMR-G125 router to my computer downstairs and then get the wireless connection upstairs on my bedroom computer. Furthermore, I need to know what the red light means on the interent LED when connecting the internet.

The red light probably means the internet connection isn't working.
The best way to set it up is to connect the phone cable into the WAN port on the back, and connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports to your computer (or laptop if the dektop is nowhere near).
Start the router and leave it for a couple of minutes. Then start the computer and wait for it to boot up to the desktop and all icons are ready.
Open your browser and type 192.168.0.1 (maqy be different, check the manual) and press Enter.
You may be asked for a username and password, check the manual again.
Look for a setup menu and follow the instructions. Enter the username and password supplied by your ISP.
Once you have internet connectivity, look for a wireless menu, then security.
Change the security type to WPA-PSK, TKIP and enter a randon key of numbers and letters, at least 8 characters long.
Save the settings and disconnect the ethernet cable.
On the otehr computer, right-click the wireless icon near the clock and click View available wireless networks. Click on yours and then click Connect.
You will be asked for a network key. Type in the one you entered into the router, twice, then click connect.
Sorted.
