Hi all My Parents yesterday had VirginMedia installed at their house, although the engineers wouldn't install anything on his pc, they simply attached the cable to the modem they provided. My Dad tried to set the BB connection up himself but the disc provided only took him so far before coming up with an error code, (I've read elswhere that the installation discs are not needed anyway)It appears now that he's able to get online no probs although at the top of his browser page it states internet explorer provided by BT internet? the BT line is in no way connected to the modem or PC now, does this present any problems?? theres also a flashing 'PC' light on the 'scientific atlanta' modem they provided and the documentation given is pretty poor not to mention its a premium rate number to their helpdesk. As I mentioned he's now online but worried about the BT on his web browser.
Thanks in advance

When installing a cable connection for the first time you normally need to get as far as connecting to the Virgin Media server so that it records the MAC number of the modem. It sounds as if your dad got that far so you are right, you no longer need the installation CD nor will you in the future if you decide to add a router into the system. Any PC connecting to VM via the router will get an automatic connection.
The BT logo on the Internet Explorer bar is nothing to worry about. Most ISP's 'personalise' IE with their own brand name. If your dad had managed to finish the install via the VM CD it would have overwritten the BT words with it's own. If you click on this link and run the script it will tidy the place up. If you really want to add 'Internet Explorer provided by Virgin Media' or, indeed, any other words that take your fancy to the top, there is a way. Come back to us if you want to do it.

Thanks Greysts, His worry was that he was still connected to bt broadband but obviously I'd pointed out that there was no phone cable (rj11) connected to the new modem, I just couldn't figure out why the BT branding was still there, will run the program in the link you've posted.
Thanks Again
