Tiscali
      #357869 - Mon Jul 16 2007 11:47 PM

I am tied into tiscali`s 2mb unlimited at the moment and it`s very erratic, good during the day but pitiful at night, very disappointing as I changed from pipex because they had not reduced there prices to existing customers but at least were consistent.
Last few days we have had limited VERY SLOW access to the net but some sites won`t load at all eg Ebay,MSN Any ideas please.

Interesting post!! I've been having enormous speed issues with Tiscali MAX Unlimited in last few weeks. I went absolutely balistic at Tiscali Broadband Support (mostly by e-mail) cos I was consistently getting Dial-up range speeds irrespective of time of day. 'Network stalled' Speed outages etc etc.(I had BT check my line and they found nothing wrong)Then I thought to myself, why should I put up with this when I'm not paying for Dial up - but Broadband each month! So I waged war! Eventually, having carried out all the techniclal instructions which Tiscali sent me, twice/three times over a short period to get this issue resolved, they agreed to refer my speed problem to their 'Escalation Team'. Having stated (or was it threatened!) in my last e-mail that I would be requesting a MAC Code and going to another ISP, I came online tonight and to my amazement, throughout this evening Tiscali have obviously resolved the problem. I'm now getting real and consistent Broadband speeds....at last!! So the message is...don't give up..be persistent and remain focussed in getting them to put the problem right. I've sent Tiscali an e-mail to thank them as they obviously have now at long last done something...and asked them what the problem was in the first place...watch for another post here with their answer -that is, if I get one!

Good Luck with the reply.
Ours has been ok all day then when it gets to evening almost stops although constantly showing "firefox cannot find server" internet exploder is no better.
Tiscali`s speed test still shows 2469kbps,668kbps and 1934kbps one straight after the other. can only get some web sites (not Ebay MSM
left it for a bit went back and its ok again ?

Certain sites not loading can be indicative of MTU issues.
When you mention in particular ebay or M$ sites.. then alarm bells ring that it is an MTU problem.

Try changing your MTU settings.
