ADSL activation problems
      #357079 - Wed Jul 11 2007 05:55 PM

I am in the process of getting broadband for the first time.

My ISP (fast4.net) have told me that BT have rejected my ADSL order and gave the following message:

"ADSL CANCELLED REISSUE AS PROVIDE,Suppliers advised engineer has found an incompatible rented product on the line. End user needs to be contacted"

fast4 are telling me that I have to contact BT, and BT are telling me to get my ISP to contact their wholesalers.

The only services I am signed up for are:
Caller Display
Telephone Preference Service
Ex-Directory

Does anyone know of any BT product/service which could cause this problem?

This is a list of the possibles that could be noted as an incompatible rented product.

* Another ADSL product in the range
* ADSL supplied by another Service Provider
* Subscriber Private Metering
* 30K Loop
* Private Circuits
* Red ABC
* Redcare alarm line
* FeatureNet 5000 series
* Meter Pulse facility
* PBX line
* Coinbox
* Incoming/Outgoing Call Barring
* Caller Display unit CD50
* Home Highway
* Business Highway
* ISDN - All types
* Auxiliary lines

From what you've told us, the most likely culprit is the Caller Display Unit.

thanks greysts, you've put me on the right track. it turns out that the probable reason is indeed the call display unit
