i came home from work just now, and i find that my actiontek dsl gateway modem has all the lights on except for the internet light. i cannot figure out what the problem is, i've tried rebooting my system, i've checked all cables, i've unplugged and replugged in the modem, and nothing has worked. can someone help me? I can't access the internet, i'm using a friends laptop right now.

You say you've removed the power lead from the modem and plugged it in again. Do all the lights still stay on? If they do it sounds very much like a hardware fault or possibly a lightning strike. Might be time for a new one.

yes i unplug the power to the modem and plug it back in. Usually this does the trick when lightning does strike and it knocks out the dsl but this time all the lights light up again except for the internet light. I can get a connection but there's no web service,.
