Setting 'out of office'
      #356014 - Thu Jul 05 2007 12:12 PM

Hi All

My girlfriend's running Outlook and wants to know how to set her OoO when away from the office. She works alone and has been told she won't be able to use it because she isn't on an office server, or something. Is that correct?

Blueboy:

In Mail, on the Tools menu, click Out of Office Assistant
(The Out of Office Assistant command does not appear unless you are using an Exchange Server e-mail account and you are in the Mail view)

Click I am currently Out of the Office.

In the AutoReply only once to each sender with the following text box, type the message that you want to send to others while you are out.

If you want, create rules (rule: One or more automatic actions taken on e-mail messages and meeting requests that meet certain conditions, along with any exceptions to those conditions. Rules are also referred to as filters.) to manage your incoming mail.

So basically the first answer was right, she can't do it.

what she could do is set up a rule wizard to answer all emails with an email stating that she is 'out of office' - however she would need to leave her PC on with Outlook open for the duration of her period of absence

or, she could log on to her email account via the Internet [webmail account] and see if her ISP allows her to set up an out of office notice from there

if you need any help on any of the above options, post back

good luck
