change broadband/phone package
      #355732 - Tue Jul 03 2007 03:00 PM

Hi, I'm currently with Virgin for phone and internet, and Sky for TV. I've had litle problem with virgin until I started running 3 computers at home instead of one (a wired desktop (Vista) and 2 wireless laptops (one Vista and one XP). Just recently, I've found that quite often I can't seem to get broadband on all 3 at thr same time, although a while back, I could. I'm looking to change ISP but am confused by the range available. I want something fast and reliable for general surfing and downloading music and bundled with a phone connection; I'm thinking of someone like Pipex or even combining with Sky tv to have an all in one package, although I wonder if putting all my eggs in one basket is a good idea. Any advice, recommendations or warnings would be welcome.

Cheers,

astrovoyager

If you've already VirginMedia BB via cable you won't get anything more reliable than that. They have fibre optic cables and very high speed internet connections. Going with any other ISP means going back to a telephone connection running over old copper wire into a t/p exchange which could be three miles away. If you've got problems with your home network I would be looking at the router and your PCs before changing ISP's.

Thanks greysts,

The desk top and one of the laptops are new, the other laptop is 6 months old, as is the router. I've checked all connections, etc. and all seems fine but I do still get this problem where only one or two of the computers can connect to the internet at a time. Is there anything else I can check?

Thanks,
Astrovoyager

Which router are you using?
