PC to MAC IM connection

I'am trying to get in touch with friends via video web cam they are using mac pc's
and mine is a windows pc.We are all on AOL AIM. The one in Canada can hear and see me but I can only hear them. The other in this country I get the message timed out were are we going wrong!!!!
