Ok i have just finnished my first year a college studying multimedia and web development and to say the least it was very thin....
I know XHTML and a little javascript.
I am more design orientated and have extensive knowledge of Photoshop Fireworks Flash and Director.
I would like to know more about PHP ASP but is there anything else i need to know?

For one I'd stay clear of ASP. Don't know why they keep teaching this stuff at Uni as it's less in demand these days. PHP is a fab language to get your teeth into coupled with front end languages such as JavaScript , XML , and CSS.
JavaScript these days is a lot more sophisticated and can be used to create some extremely aesthetically pleasing site's. Check this site out for instance. http://www.dhteumeuleu.com/
Learning PHP will allow you to do pretty much anything you can do with any other web language, but you should also consider the .NET framework and its multitude of languages.
If your thinking in terms of wages then .NET pays more that your general PHP job. Personally though I think PHP is easier and there are lot more resources for PHP on the web.

Ajax (the combined use of PHP and JS) is another nice one to know.
You might also like Ruby on Rails, which although its not widely used yet, is a very nice web language and very useful.
