Retro games issue 164, page 34
      #354576 - Sat Jun 23 2007 09:34 PM

I decided to have a look at these and the first one I tried was the Commodore 64 site, but unfortunately haven't been able to get any of the games I tried to work. I get the start screen of the games and broken audio, the audio is still there even after I have closed the tab. I know my pc has java installed, but is there anything else I need?

I am using Firefox.

Direct Download

Have downloaded that, restarted pc and it still does exactly the same.

I think Java runtime installed ok, an icon has appeared on my desktop and I didn't get any error messages.

Bizarre, open the link using Firefox and then use IETab and change it to IE then Java should try to update and then let it install, then once complete try the site again, but using Firefox. If that gives you no joy, then I am at a loss.

I tried switching to IE tab and nothing tried to install, Although there was a message at the top of the site telling me that I was using Internet Explorer and advising me to upgrade to Firefox!

When I tried to load a game again, the screen just froze up.

Well I have look at myconfig to see what extensions I have installed. It says that I have something called Java console disabled, but not sure how to re-enable it?

Here is a list of what I've got installed.

I clicked on Tools and then addons. The Java console wasn't listed in my addons, but I just clicked on tools and enable all to see if that would work, but it's still the same and won't work.

Duh, that's what I get for not looking.

Click Tools > Options then Content.

Is there a tick in the checkbox next to Java?

I'm at a loss, I would post your query in the Web Browser forum and see if you get any further help from there.

Could this be the root of the Issue? Link leads to some Possible solutions on Google So on this rare occasion the answer is in the Problem link

Thanks for all your suggestions Mouse.

I am completely stumped on this one too. Have tried the same site on the laptop which is running Vista, IE7 and won't work on that either.
