New(ish) website and blog -- all my own work!
      #354222 - Thu Jun 21 2007 09:59 AM

Hello forum! This is my first post here.

Some years ago I bought a domain name with the idea of creating a website for the community choir that I lead. I tried several "build your own website" software packages, but none of them gave me the flexibility I wanted. So I sat on it for several years, and only a while back did I pluck up the courage to read an HTML book and code the site myself. I'm very pleased with the results and would welcome any feedback:

www.worldsong.co.uk

I've also recently started a blog. I know it's rather a specialised area, but I'd like to know what people think. I post once a week and try to fit in a bit of street philosophy as well as talking about singing and music!

From the front of the choir:

Thanks for your time.

Chris

Welcome to the forum.

Can I ask you to take the time to read the sticky thread at the head of this part of the forum and ensure your site meets the conditions of posting here.

Thanks.

Admin.

I must be honest and say that I am not the singing type of person but I did enjoy looking around your site. I thought everything was nicely laid out, easy to get around and that the colours work well together as well..

Keep up the good work!

Hello Admin

I did look at the sticky note and am pretty sure the site adheres to your rules!! We are a non-profit making community choir. Although we offer our home-made CD for sale on the site, it is simply to allow us to recover the costs of making it in the first place. The site as such does not generate an income. I hope that's OK!

Chris

Technically you do generate income (whether you make a profit or not), but we can probably turn a blind eye to that. However, the workshops, are they free?

Incidentally, I couldn't see the reciprocal link back to this site, perhaps you could point that out to me.

Cheers.

Sorry, I updated the file on my PC, but forgot to upload it! Reciprocal link is now on my links page.

I apologise, but I read "not-for-profit" to simply mean that. Any "income" generate by my site (and we're talking a few pounds a year!) only goes to cover costs. We don't make a profit. If you feel that my site doesn't adhere to your rules, please feel free to remove the link from the forum.

Chris

With such a glowing recommendation for Web User on your links page it'd be churlish of me to uphold the letter of the guidelines. Just don't tell the others.

That is a great site and well done with the building of it. The link that you have called 'information' I would have called 'links' but perhaps that is just me. One or two of the photos are a bit blurred, but apart from that a very interesting site and quick and easy to navigate. Well done.
