convert wma to mp3
      #353581 - Sun Jun 17 2007 09:29 AM

I read the latest issue about file transfer and decided to use them to convert some music i purchased online in WMA to convert it to mp3 so it would play on my sony nws205 player. However, they just will not convert. I do not what i am doing wrong. Is it something to do with copyright?

Hi and welcome to the forums.

You do not need to convert .wma files to .mp3 format as this player supports: MP3 • WMA • AAC • ATRAC3.

The BLOATWARE that Sony provide converts all your media files to the Sony file format ATRAC3.

Thing is mouse, Not ALL players like this WILL play 2 different file types. I have had 3 different models where I stored MP3 and WMA but it wouldn't play them all.
Iff all files were WMA then no probs. If all were MP3 then No probs but when both types were on there, it would only play 1 type.

This has happened on each player I have had.

Spar, do try and put them all on the player first and see if they all play before trying to convert them.
Let us know how you get on.

Baz94, are you referring to Sony MP3 players or MP3 players in general?

Sony require you to install their bloatware first, which converts all the media on your PC into the ATRAC3 format.

spar150hawk, we apologise for the hijack of your post.

Sorry Baz but you will find that you hijacked the OPs post first.

As I was saying with SONY mp3 players you cannot just drag and drop files, nor will they act as a flash drive whereby you can store data on it. To get music onto a SONY mp3 player you have to use the software they provide which converts all your media into the ATRAC3 format for the SONY mp3 player to read the data.

Therefore regardless of whether your media is .wma .mp3 or.aac, as I pointed out in my initial reply.
