Hi Web Users I'm going through the specs of various external soundcards as I want to be able to swap it between two or more computers to avoid installing individual PC1 internal soundcards.
The Creative X mod and the Terratec-Aureon Mk 2 look promising supporting 24 bit and Plug n' Play via USB attachment, looks just about the ticket. One niggle though when enabled do they automatically disable the onboard soundcard or does one have to manually do this, as I don't want to permanently effect them.
Also any recommendations on 5.1 surround sound speakers, the specs are a bit ambiguous, for eg Cyber give 100 Watts total RMS but are shy about individual speaker output, Logitech and Creative are more forthcoming but their total output RMS is in the 35 - 40 Watt range. The Logitech x 530 has better features, I think they're deliberately evasive and it doesn't help when you can't hear the sound first, buying over the internet.
Thanks in advance Mac

My guess is that all you need to do is transfer the speaker cables from the old sound card to the new. If they are USB speakers I presume you will get a driver CD which will do all the work for you.
