Hi All,

No menus just blank boxes, no address bar, just the apple homepage..
Has anyone else had this problem ??
Cheers

change the Home page to start with

Go to Edit | Preferences

On the general Tab, change your home page,

then go to view | Show Toolbar, also show Status bar and show tab bar

Then use as you would with IE

Hi Iain,
fanx for your reply,
I cannot change or do anything ??
there are no menus or anything.
when I move the mouse over the area where the menus ( such as File Edit View etc ) are suppose to be, all there is is a bar that highlights, but no actual headings written on the bar or sub menus,
so I cant choose any of the sub menus, because there's nothing written on the highlighted bars,
Also, I tried to type a url into the address bar but no type shows..
I have tried to unistall and reinstall, but no joy...
will probably wait until they release it not as a beta version..
Thanks once again,
M

Hi Iain,
nope, no text on the menu titles at all.
when i ran the mouse over the bar below the address bar, there are buttons that highlight they must be links, cos when i click these I am directed to the bbc homepage, apple homepage etc,,
but that is the only place that it will go, i cannot type in a web address or anything ??
i have tried installing both the version available, but both have the same effect
strange

There have been a few reports of missing text - these instructions were posted as a possible fix:

1. install Safari
2. go to your programfiles/safari directory and open up the Safari.resources folder
3. copy the two Lucida Grande font files to the Windows>Fonts Directory
4. Rename the Safari.resources folder to anything else
5. try to open Safari, it won't open - dismiss the error message
6. go back and rename Safari.resources to it's original name
7. restart Safari and all should be there now!

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but there is now an updated version of Safari available (v3.0.1) which contains the fixes for a couple of security problems. If you unchecked the option for "Install Apple Software Update" when you installed it (which will notify you of updates, presumably) just download it again and reinstall it.

I didn't have any probs downloading or installing Safari but I hate the interface. Grey and oh so boring. I will stay with Firefox.
