Internet Explorer help
      #352600 - Mon Jun 11 2007 04:00 PM

Is there any way I can set Internet Options to be password protected? I want to prevent clear history being used and internet files being deleted.
thanks

Is it because you want to return to those websites in the future or do you want to monitor a particular user's surfing habits?

To stop anyone deleting the history you will need to add 2 registry keys. However, this procedure is not foolproof as the keys can be reset. So, additionally, you will have to add further keys to prevent the registry being altered. Furthermore, you will have to ensure that nobody uses your windows logon and alters the registry.

A much simpler process is to look at the various index.dat files on the system. These stay intact, regardless of the history being deleted. Download/install Index.DatAnalyser, get the free version here http://www.systenance.com/indexdat.php When you install it, don’t make it available to your other users as they may well delete the index.dat file(s), which is one of the program‘s main strengths.
