I am interested in creating my own social networking site. Can anyone suggest some free software thats also easy to use?

As social networking has seen a huge increase in popularity in recent years, as has the popularity of pre-written scripts in order to create such a community.
I had a breif search on google for some related software, which I found were a little pricey ($100-$2000), which maybe too expensive.

Hi
So have you used these scripts yourself, then?
I think the trouble with such scripts might
be a) your site looks like everyone else's
who's used that script and b) you rely on
the script improving over time - social
networking sites have to evolve, for them
to continue to be used (in my humble opinion)
Those scripts are a good start, I guess.
