Saving old favourites
      #349955 - Sun May 27 2007 06:30 PM

I may have to restore my pc and am in the process of saving files onto an external hard drive.

In an earlier issue of Webuser (which I am now unable to locate) there was an article which stated how to save favourites. I think this was done without having to use an external hard drive but I'm not sure. Can anybody tell me what the quickest and easiest method is please?

I use IE7 and Firefox (I think) 2.2.

If you don't want to save them to the external hard drive then you can copy them to a CD.
First stick a CD into the drive then open Firefox and click on bookmarks > organize bookmarks > file > export > click on the arrow next to the "save in" box and choose your CD drive > save . In your task bar a message should appear saying you have files waiting to be written to disc . Click on the balloon then when the window opens highlight the file and choose "write these files to CD. Follow the CD writing wizard and that's you done.

Internet Explorer , click on file > import and export > when the wizard appears choose next > highlight "export favourites" > next > highlight favourites > click on the browse button and choose desktop > next. The file should now be on your desktop. Your CD drive should still be showing in the task bar so drag the file ,( left click and hold , on the mouse ) , from your desktop on to the task bar and when the CD drive window opens release the left click. Highlight the file and choose "write these files to CD". That's you done.
