Error Stops and Shutdown request /Nag messages. How tto stop them
      #349778 - Sat May 26 2007 06:37 PM

If like me you have been plagued by those messaages on Shutdown asking for a response sometimes locking the shutdown sequence until the message has beem cleared
And the Odd thing is there is Nothing wrong with any program or Windows Too runs as normal
But how did I solve the Puzzle..?
Well I installed a new graphics card but on reboot the computer stopped during the Boot Sequence with the Message that The CPU settings had changed Thought I'd disturbed the Battery when inserting the card and It had reset the BIOS
And sure enough the clock was wrong and some progams had to be reset ....They depend Heavily on the computer clock for the schedules and AVG is a good case (has to be reupdated again)
Everythings back to normal surfed around and shut down the computer and as Usual there are these Nag messages before the shutdown music/screen
Thought Nothing of it

Next startup there is the same CPU setting Message Yet everything is in order!

3rd Time Same again!!

This time I hit the DELete key to take me into the BIOs Settings
and Headed for the STOP Error reporting link (NOTE-There are many different titles of this section) And I Changed the setting From "STOP on ALL errors" to STOP on NO errors.....There are other settings but their purpose is to help with debugging Windows. This traps Windows and Program coding errors and the error sevice On Internet Explorer is mainly bothered with Internet coding errors OK?
And guess what? It was pointing to STOP on all errors
So all I did was move the marker to NO errors press the Apply button closed the window and Surfed around.

And Shutdown Time came and NO messages! Restarted.Started up NO message.
The whole Job Knowing where this setting is, checking /altering the Status will take you perhaps 20 seconds at most
So in conclusion If you have these nag boxes appearing at Shutdown Restart Press the DEL key as soon as Windows Start to go the BIOs Setups screen or DEL if its stopped on a Message and locate the Report error link and you'll back running in a few moments

Why has nobody come up with a simple routine to do this say from the Control Panel (Administrative Tools program)?

Because it's far too dangerous to make important BIOS changes via the operating system.

Think of the carnage that could be caused!
