HTML Code
      #34863 - Thu Jan 15 2004 07:20 PM

I host my website with 81X. It is quite good, for a free editor but it won't let me do some things like add a download link to my computer, or create a forum. I'm not really bothered to learn HTML Code so I want a free trial version of Microsoft FrontPage. I've checked the website but I can't find a download for free. Anyone know where I can get a free trial?

Hi Frank.

You might want to give FrontPage Express a go (just shy of 4Mb). It's free!

I have Office installed with full Frontpage, and I would advise against anyone using such garbage, as it adds obscure proprietary code into the web pages, which can cause problems for anyone not using Internet Explorer. There are plenty of good free software out there to create web pages.

One which got many awards and has a lot to offer is 1st Page 2000. The software has different skill levels which open up more features as you become familiar with it, and their web site has its own forum if you need help and advice.

Does any of these provide a download link to my computer without revealing the filename?

Not sure what you mean? If you mean to get the programs, my link goes to the web page, not the program download.

If you mean you want to be able to create links which won;t reveal what is being downloaded, then only a script would obscure that, but then the filname is always revealed during downloading anyway as it will show in the dialog box.
