      #348241 - Thu May 17 2007 09:09 PM

hi

i have recently just started using ebay, and in my hastiness to look proper bought one of those dodgy MP4 players from hong Kong. Now it only cost 24 quid and i got a shipment confirmation that it would be shipped today. However today i noticed that the seller is no longer an active user of ebay!!

This seller has thousands of positive feedback and the only negative is that the the players arent 8Gb but 2Gb which i allready no about

Do i have a need to be concerend please help?

For some reason recently eBay has been hitting a lot of the Hong Kong sellers and one or two of my 'regulars' keep getting kicked off occaisionally but are then quickly back on. Only the repeat offenders don't come back. They've probably been using tradenames and the owners have had a moan.

Two things: Use the seller's email address (should be in the confirmation of sale emails) to email and ask if the item has been sent as you notice they are no longer on eBay, and the second thing is the moment you can log it as Item Not Received on eBay (think it takes about 10 days before eBay lets you do this). Do the latter REGARDLESS what the seller replies as you need to protect your interests (i.e. your money). I know the latter sounds a bit mean but you need to log it to ensure that your money doesn't disappear.

Hong Kong sellers are actually pretty good and I can get stuff over in a week, but allow two weeks. You'll most likely find it turns up so you can cancel the 'dispute' and in some cases you can be presently surprised with the quality.

Weirdest one I had was I bought a watch and ended up with twenty golf club covers and fifty golf tees! I searched on eBay and discovered the seller of those, who it eventually turned out was in the same building as the watch guy, and they used some other bloke to do the mailing and he had messed it up. Took them a while to be convinced that they were in error, but opening the PayPal dispute brought a swift resolution.

If you get an email saying they will happily send the item if you close the dispute tell them where to go - the dispute is only closed when the item is in your hands!

I loved my grandmother very much.......and she fetched a good price on eBay.
