Hello.
I've been in the shadows watching but this is my first post!
Very much a beginner I have built a website for a friend of mine who is blind and undertaking a sponsored walk to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Having read the rules I thought I should ask if it would be considered a not for profit site before posting a link...
Also, the site is currently hosted as a sub-domain of my own personal domain. We want a dedicated host but money is an issue so if anyone could suggest a cheap, reliable hosting company that runs monthly rather than yearly contracts it would be greatly appreciated.

As you haven't got a response from anyone confirming the situation about fundraising, I would just go ahead and post the link, if it isn't allowed then it will just be removed. You have lost nothing in trying.

As Mark has said, in principle it sounds OK, but bear in mind this section is for gaining a crit & advice so there does need to be a 'site' to view and review, as opposed to just a page promoting an event, etc.
BTW: Apologies for not responding sooner, the thread must have slipped through the net.

I write DIY Web Pages for Web User, so I'd be interested in taking a look at your site for inclusion in the magazine. The 'not-for-profit' rule is to try to ensure that sites submitted are amateur rather than professional or business related. As your site is for a charitable purpose, it shouldn't be a problem.

I am indeed posting to WebUser in order to gain criticism and advice - as you will see, the site is 5 pages built from scratch in notepad - however, I'm naturally interested in gaining exposure for the site also.
I have been approaching relevant sites requesting links so far with limited success - though we do have a press release and link on the guide dogs website and a link on a blind services site (http://www.whitestick.co.uk). Suggestions for sites that might be willing to carry a link would be greatly appreciated.

I'm particularly interested in people's views/ideas re accessibility.

I did reply yesterday but my post seems to have vanished. Regarding the accessibility of your website. I work for an accessibility software company and have given your site the once over with one or two screenreaders. Everything seems to work fine. One or two of the pictures don't seem to have the ALT tags announced. Other than that it seems fine.
I'll be happy to put a link up for you on my own site. Regarding hosting, I have tons of spare space, be happy to loan you some for free for a couple of months if it'll help. It's a resellers account so it will not be an add on, you can change your nameservers to the domain.

With one thing and another I managed to completely miss my site in "Readers' Websites". I only happened across it in a page listing from issue 165 while ego surfing! Although I did have that issue I'm ashamed to say I hadn't read it properly! Illustrates one of the benefits of the web over print media I suppose.

Also, thanks to Lee for the feedback and sorry it's taken so long to reply. Thanks also for the offer of hosting but I've got that covered now.
www.valetochelsea.co.uk has been very successful - Nicky has raised nearly £4000 so far and sets off on her walk on 8th September. The site has been modified since I first posted and we have recently linked to a blog that Nicky will post to during her adventure.
(I lack the skills for a DIY blog - I was completely foxed by Wordpress- and it took a while to find a blogging site that wasn't completely inaccessible to Nicky's screen reading software - we went with www.bloglines.com in the end)
