I am trying to write a slideshow which include music files and animations to CD but the file is too large. Is there any other way, avoiding reducing the file size?, i really don't want to leave any slides out and i need copies for friends without powerpoint. I'd be very grateful for any help.

A slideshow in excess of 650Mb? Wow thats big!!!
First thing to do is check the format of your music, your pictures and animations
If the music is in .wav format or the pictures are in .bmp format, you may beable to convert them to files that take up less space without loss of quality, such as wma or mp3 for the music and jpeg for pictures.
Personally, powerpoint would not my program of choice for creating a slideshow, preferring Irfanview, (freeware) following the instructions here.
Beauty of this is that you need neither Irfanview or Powerpoint on any other pc that are to play the cd

Jpegs can still be optimised further, it all depends on how sharp you need the images to be. If they are to be printed off then maybe they are best left as they are, butif they are intended to remain on screen, you may well be able to compress the files further.
Irfanview has a batch conversion ability that would allow you to reduce the file sizes if printing of the image is not the intention
