Trying to join British Geneology forum
      #345146 - Thu Apr 26 2007 10:06 PM

Hi there, I'm having a big problem trying to sign up to the British Geneology forum. I have so far been able to do the initial signup and can login to the forum, but when I post a message it dosn't show up anywhere, it seems I havn't been approved yet by a moderator.

I have mailed the moderator to ask when that will be, but get no answer. There seems to be no other contact that I can mail.

Does anyone have an active and approved membership of this forum? and if so can you perhaps ask what is happening to my membership please? Or any other ideas?

J.

The British Geneology forum, and site, appears to be run by Archive CD Books Ltd (51 St. Whites Road, Cinderford, Gloucestershire, GL14 3DF). They have their own site www.archivecdbooks.org which does have a contact email address on it, enquiries@archivecdbooks.org, you could try them.

Because you are new, it takes up to 24 hours for your posts appear.

Thanks I did have a look at that site too, looks like I'll have to contact them there.

Hi, I know about that but I have tried to post a couple of times, that's after initially joining about 4/5 weeks ago, but still not completed

I can recommend another forum in the meantime, http://www.rootschat.com it's run entirely by volunteers and there are many helpful people who are happy to do lookups as well as local links by County to various useful resources.

Agman - penny's just dropped, I joined BG last year to post a Boer War query... like you, waited and waited for approval and finally sent a PM to Rod Neep (Admin) via this thread http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16923 and I was approved straight away.

I quite understand the practice of vetting users first but it's not helpful if no one notices when they register

Must admit, it's not a forum I have used since, but you never know
