helpsvc.help

does anyone know how to cure the helpsvc.help problem.
this comes on about 10pm and puts massive strain on resources.
i have trawled thru the search engines but can only fine dated answers.
if i go to microsoft there is a hotfix available but you have to telephone them to get it.
is there any other ways to stop this running without causing more problems.
at the moment i have stopped auto updates as this apparently stops the problem.
i wont know till later tonight if it works or not.
i am using a asus laptop which is year old,i did send this back as it kept processing heavily late at night for no reason.
asus could not find a problem.
i think the problem is helpsvc.exe as i have found others with the same symptoms
although these were upto 3 years ago.
any advice please.
thanks gary

Submit an online request to obtain a Microsoft hotfix - I don't know but maybe an answer. Good luck.

You could try this:

Go into the Control Panel > Click on Performance and Maintenance > Click on Administrative Tools > Click on Services.

Scroll down to Help and Support > Right click > Properties > General tab (you will see startup type).
Change the type to Manual and then click apply.

Then it will only pop up when you actually click on help to use it.

i will give that a try first before contacting microsoft.
i have also switched auto updates back on, your solution hopefully will allow this.
thanks,gary
