Would appreciate members views on what software to buy to make home made DVD's. Bought a Canon DVD camcorder (MD160 using small DV min tapes) and have a Dell Inspiron laptop. Both new in last few months so have good capability. I am a starter to this but would like to make family DVD's with my own footage and use some of the sound from the material shot but also add my own music from my music collection on Windows Media Player.
Have been advised (by guy who sold me camcorder) that Adobe Premiere Elements 3 is what I am probably looking for as its good, allows me to do everything I need and (for someone like me who is not very technical) its functionality is easy to learn and use
Can people comment on this, give me their views on Adobe and also suggest others that may be more suitable
Any advice greatly appreciated Joe

Hi Joe I'd go to AVForums and have a look around there. This question may already have been asked, but if not, there are many knowledgeable people there who will answer any questions you have about audio or video matters. I've always found it a great place for anything to do with AV.

Why should a user be told to look elsewhere for advice? Yes I agree the folk over on the AVForums are knowledgeable, however the user has posted on WebUser's pages, therefore the answer really should come from here, or am I mistaken?

Well I'd have thought the best help one could give to somebody asking a technical AV question is to refer them to AV forums. Unless there is a single right answer, which in this case there isn't.
Are we on this forum so touchy about our status that we don't admit when somebody is better served looking for an answer elsewhere? Are you frightened that if they look at AV Forums, they'll prefer it to here and won't come back?
Really, I don't understand it.

The best help one can give is to advise those who seek help on these pages that they sought it from, that is, what they are here for.
If we are to fob users off elsewhere, then there would be no point in these pages and no point in having members around, in fact if you try hard enough you could use Google as your place for answers and never need forums ever again.
Any easier for you to understand now?
