Am curious as to whether there is any software i can install that will turn off the browser or stop my daughter using the internet on her laptop after a certain period of time or at a certain time, am trying to get some control over how long and till what time, i know i can just take the laptop off her , but sometimes her staying on is not deliberate but just gets lost in time.cheers WW.

A determined kid can get round any tools like that - they're always one step ahead of us.
But in any case, how would you have felt when you were her age if your dad had tried doing something like that to you? Talking to them sensibly is the best way - but in any case, they'll do what they want to, just like you did.

If and only if Nervals advice doesn't work, then if you use a router, I would disable the DHCP on the router, and give each PC/laptop on the network a static IP address and then use the routers' client IP filter function, making sure that you secure the router with a password.
