Go and have a look at AVForums. They have a whole section devoted to MP3 players and have some helpful people who will answer all your questions.

I have a Creative Zen V Plus and it's worked very well. I also supports video. It's something like £65.00 on amazon.co.uk.

Why? I had 2 Sony, a Creative and 2 Iriver's before I bought my Ipod nano, and it's by far the best out of any of them.

I've had a Zen Vision M for just under a year and it's a great bit of kit, the best mp3 player I've had.

I bought a chi-pod (looks like an ipod nano), not dissimilar to this one

more out of curiosity than anything, but I managed to pick up a 1gb Mp3 player with a 1.8" screen for which also has a built in radio, picture viewer, movie player, and even a couple of games for a wallet soothing £15 P&P included off ebay.
It will also pay wma fles which, with the wma smaller size, means you can get up to 300 songs on it. It cann also double as a Flash drive and with flash memoryof up to 8Gb these days, is certainly worth a look
