I have an annoying problem with Firefox. When I am typing in lots of text, (like here) the on screen typing will stop and then eventually catches up. Also sometimes when scrolling up and down with the scroll wheel, FF will get stuck and then catch up again.
Some time ago, it was doing this and the only way I could rectify it was by making a new profile, but it has just started happening again today.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
Thanks in advance.

How much RAM do you have on your PC and do you have too many add ons, is your keyboard wired or wireless, have you checked the batteries?
For speeding up Firefox try the following:
1. Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true” Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
I'm sure there will be more help on this, but it offers a starting point...

Not sure about the tbh.
My keyboard and mouse are both wired.
I had 41 extensions. Last night I created a brand new profile and just imported my passwords and settings, but not my extensions or themes.
I have a list of all the extensions that were loaded, and have just begun by installing only the very essential ones to try and keep it down to a minimum, as there were quite a few that were installed for novelty value, but not really used as such.
Seems to be working fine since I started the new profile and the problem hasn't happened since. I will look at the settings you mentioned to make sure they are applied.
Thanks very much.

It certainly sounds like an extension, or Add-Ons as they call them now, problem. I had similar problems this week after trying out a few new Add-Ons and the browser would be slow and scrolling was impossible at times. I disabled all the 'novel' ones and the ones I didn't use at all. The browser now is 100% better.

Created this one as you said, but it won't accept the characters you quote, just reverts to saying 0, not sure if that is right.

The browser will normally wait until it has downloaded an amount of data before displaying the page. The setting makes it start displaying before that point, so it appears to speed things up. I think the overall page load time would be the same (or even slower).
It's very difficult to be subjective about this because if a page is loaded for the second time, parts of it are likely to come from cache and so will load faster. Therefore, each time you try the 'before and after' speeds, the cache really needs emptying. Also, Internet speeds can vary from minute to minute. By the time a second speed test is done, page loading times might be affected one way or the other by this factor.
It looks like you cured your problem with a new Profile. Maybe there's no need to play with Firefox's default settings.
