the 'NET PROBLEMS FIXED' feature in the latest issue of webuser suggests using the Comtech Call Manager to let you know if someone is trying to call you while your online so you can disconnect and answer the call. Can anyone tell me if Phone Dialer (included with Windows XP) will do the same thing

Hi chris, Had a BT engineer at my place just last week,he remarked on the fact I had an IACM4000 to alert me to incoming calls. He told me he ran WXP and when a call came in he was alerted by a popup informing him of the fact,so there must be a setting somewhere, perhaps one of the wise ones may enlighten us.

You can't call me a wise one really, but as far as I know there isn't a feature like that included in XP. He may have had some other software because I spotted a workshop in the computer active magazine about a program that could do that if I'm not mistaken.

I think this feature is included in some V92 modems. Not a lot of good I hear you say if your ISP doesn't support it. Might be worth checking it out though. I also think this was available through a separate programme in the States but not in this country, at least that was the situation a while back when the question arose before. I'm unaware of it being included in any of the operating systems. Far better to get Broadband if you can.

Further to the above I've had a look on Google and it seems, as stated above, there is a hardware product to do this at a price. See this link I'll have to have a read up on that.
