Hey all!
I'm new to this forum, but hopefully will become a good part of it.
Recently I developed (from scratch) a PHP/MySQL driven website. I reckon it's ready for production, but am still open for suggestions, ideas, comments and constructive criticism! There are a few improvements I have yet to make, but would like other peoples comments too. So all is appreciated!
The website is www.profiletycoon.com.
I hope this keeps in with the forums terms. As most of the site's functionality does not require membership. Obviously the personal profile side of things do, and the flash games too (trialling it, as I am not too sure how it is on bandwidth usage - shouldn't be a problem so this could be changed).
I look forward to any comments and such!

Heya,
I could have quite easily done what I wanted by using a pre-made Content Management System. But being new(ish) to PHP and wanting to be able to customize the end-solution as much as I could. I thought I'd make one from scratch. It took me a month to do as I had to find out ways to do certain things, make sure register_globals is not required (disabled on the server) and obviously making sure all MySQL queries are protected against injections and such.
So what you see is my own work - still room for lots of improvement and I suppose my coding isn't 100%. But it's all a learning process for me :-)

In that case, you've done a pretty impressive job.
Good luck with the site.

Thanks :-) Still a fair bit of work today - but as well as providing a service to people, I am also learning at the same time!
All a bit of fun too.

The look of your site in my opinion is Incredible! If you can, keep the games up and the other categorys as it will appeal to different audiences, but I know what its like with bandwidth issues from my past experiences.

Thank you! The games I thought was one of the best ideas to keep people coming back, especially adding new ones. Just got to hunt round a bit to find ones that can be used on other websites without infringing copyrights. Could be a good time to learn Flash!
Also was thinking of a high-score system, but not sure how most games work, as they are usually all linked to their original creator.
Might add some 'fun' stuff too, such as horoscopes, tests and such. Possibly news/weather too - kind of getting in to the 'portal' theme then.
Already seeing a lot of bandwidth being used for flash games. But in this day and age, a lot of providers allow more bandwidth for minimal cost. But shouldn't be a problem a this stage.
Does anyone have problems with it loading slow? I've been told twice it seems to take a while to load. I also notice it loads quicker in Firefox than it does in IE.
Thanks for the feedback!

Im using IE and it loads really quick for me.
Keep up the good work the site is very impressive already.
EDIT: I would also suggest making a Forum/Message Board for your website.

That's true. I don't like using other peoples stuff. So might work on making my own forums. Could take some work - but shouldn't be too hard!
Thanks :-) People say it takes a while to load. But the images are as small as I can get them (most being barely bytes). Could be their net connection though :-)
Thanks for the advice *Gets working on it*

As for the speed issue, it took me a couple of seconds to load the first time i viewed you page but now every page loads in a split second!
