I recently bought a new PC from Dell, which I am very happy with, and it came pre-installed with a program called Norton Ghost v10.0, which is a back up program. Ive not enabled the program yet and just wondered what peoples opinions were before I do.
Is it any good?
Would you recommend it? or should I just uninstall it?
Look forward to hearing your views

Like most Norton stuff it's a bit bloated but does it's job.
If you have to pay for it, I'd remove it and buy Acronis True Image
It's the best on the market IMO.

I don't know anything about Norton Ghost, but I took RichieP's advice and have just bought Acronis True Image 10. It's easy to set up and it's a doddle to use... very straight forward. I'd recommend it!

I downloaded Acronis True Image today. Tried it out to back up My Computer.Followed the Wizard and left it to do backup while I had a meal. When I went back to check there were 4 complete backups on my external hard drive.Any ideas what went wrong? Have I missed an instuction for the number of backups to be done?

Im not sure if I should get 'Norton Ghost' or 'Acronis True Image' does any body know if you can backup to a DVD disk with either of these instead of an external hard drive because I do not have an external harddrive.

Are you sure there were four backups and not a single backup split into four individual files? If the latter, treat the first file as your backup and let Acronis deal with the split files issue.
In any case, if you use a FAT32 external drive, Acronis must split the backup at 4GB as this is the maximum file size supported by FAT32.
