Connecting Sky to PC
      #338734 - Mon Mar 19 2007 10:26 AM

Hi all,

I'm having Sky Multiroom installed and I'm thinking of having the installer put it next to my PC.
What I need help on is how do I connect it up to my PC?
Do I need to put a TV Tuner card in my PC?
Can I use the spare DVI socket on my monitor using a Scart>DVI lead? and if I can do I need Windows running for sound?
What issues would there be by using a Sky Digibox and Windows together?
I know there are some decent TV Tuner cards out there which probably eliminate the need for the Digibox, but I'd rather use the box for familiarity (EPG, etc)

Cheers Guys

Andy

I have my computer connected to sky. It's connected through a scart switchable plug. This is a scart connector with switch for in out signal. This is then plugged into video or sky box.The scart switchable socket was only a few quid & the leads which come in various lenghts are quite cheap. I dont know how you do a ahref link on this site , to show you the parts . Planet micro do them & I believe gladiator computers might stock them.

You can either connect the scart switchable socket into the scart lead on VHS or dirrect to the sky box.
You need a tv card ,which is connected to the scart switchable socet by a lead with three connectors for sound and vision. Shame I can do links on other sites but have not used this site long enough to know how to

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

Thanks for the tip, heres the link for the scart switchable socket and cable
http://www.planetmicro.co.uk/product_info.asp?stockcode=M002168

I currently have my switchable connected to the sky box & if I wish to record programs I can use the tv card software . I also can watch the main tv without disconecting anything. The extension cable that goes between the lead supplied with the scart switchable you need to order seperately, depending on needs . You can get a 10 metre version.
