Here is my problem. I have recently completly reinstalled my PC, by formatting hard drive and that where all started. After installing printer it simply won`t print correct colors. I have reintalled printer few times but it doesnt work. Iam using compatible cartridges for a long time, and it never been an issue. But I just thought could it be because I am tryin to install it not with original cartridges (all chips obviously resetted)or is it something wrong with a printer? Its drivin me nuts. Any help very much appreciated.

G'day metrixxx.
In what way dosn't the printer print correct colors. Canon uses color management profiles, have you these installed, if so click on auto.

It print all in kind of reddish colors. And I had this profiles set up on different modes and auto aswell. What I meant is - its not the first time I reinstall the printer, its just the first time I reinstall it with compatible cartridges, so it keeps puzzling me whether this is causin a problem. I dont really want to spend 50 quid or so buyin all set of original one, unless this is the only way....

Although not a solution to your problem I would like to know where you got the compatibles. I've got the 4200 as well and the only compatibles I've found require me to prise off the small circuit board from a spent Canon cartridge and put it on the compatible. I've tried it twice so far. The first one wasn't recognised by the printer and the second one still gives me a warning about being nearly empty.

I gettin them from Ebay. And so far I used from two different sellers. And it never been a problem from the day I first used them. When I first put them in with chips from original cartridges I reset them and that was all. Since then I probably used around 10 full sets of cartridges without any troubles. It just after reinstallin the PC when all happened.
