External Hard Drive

I have recently purchased a WD portable hard drive but when I plug it in the blue light comes on but nothing happens. I have tried downloading the drivers from the web site but no joy there. I plug the hard drives USB 2.0 cable into my PC USB 2.0 port but no joy there. Any ideas

Is USB 2.0 Support enabled in you bios it is not alway turned on by default.
